Vancouver based collage illustrator/designer Matthew Billington is working on some pretty fun material that looks to be inspired by the great Lester Beall‘s style of work. Aside from illustration, Matthew also has a few motion graphics clips on his site so be sure to visit the links section below to check those out.

Partly what I admire of Matthew’s work is trying to decipher the message he’s put out onto the page. I’m a believer that design does not always have to be presented in such a way where the audience immediately understands the message. Make ‘em think for a little while and the meaning will become that much more significant.

Enjoy!

Hmmm….I don’t have a lot to say about Photographer Scott Moody’s photos other than the fact that they’re quite beautiful. Apparently Scott doesn’t have much to say either seeing as his ‘about’ section only says: “Enough about me….what about you?” but that’s alright, I keep going back to his photos anyway. If you really dig what you see, be sure to visit his website located in the link section below for more photos.

You know that feeling you get when you see great design work that strikes you on a personal level? It makes me want to draw. It makes me want to design. It makes me want to drop whatever I’m doing and create something. Well, when I found designer/illustrator, Adam Hill’s website my eyes glazed over and I briefly went into a design coma. I’m really delighted I found out who designed the Evil Dead poster (seen below) I saw a few weeks back. It’s executed beautifully and has certainly become a top favorite of mine.

Adam Hill is creating beautiful work out of Cape Town, South Africa. I honestly had one heck of a time trying to decide what NOT to post on this blog as I’m just impressed with all of Adam’s work. It’s not just a pleasure to stare look at, but the conceptual meanings behind many of his pieces are influential.

Be sure to visit his website and flickr account in the links section below. He has boatloads of fantastic work over there as well.

What do you think of Adam’s work? What’s your favorite piece? Comment below!

I like digging up old articles/photos/videos from yesteryear that I really admired both then and now to present them to those who might have never been exposed to them. I’m especially fond of Hitchcock and this Vanity Fair shoot that was done a couple years back.

Vanity Fair has an amazing Hitchcock inspired photo spread featuring some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, taken by some of the top photographers on the market. There are several spreads and over 20 stars by the likes of Charlize Theron, Benicio Del Toro, and Jodi Foster to name a few. The superb photos are accredited to Julian Broad, Art Strieber, Mark Seliger, and Norman jJan Roy.

Most of these photos should look familiar as the actors have been placed into well known Hitchcock movies such as The Birds, Dial M For Murder, and North By Northwest. These are just a fun, great set of photographs that make me want to turn on the tube and pop in my Hitchcock collection. Pretty sweet, huh?
